How to prepare the housing for an LCD screen?

Jun 15, 2023|

When it comes to designing the housing for an LCD screen, there are certain key aspects that must be taken into consideration. In this blog post, we will explore these aspects in detail and provide some essential tips for ensuring your screen housing is functional and aesthetically pleasing.

1. Important size parameters

Before embarking on the design process, it is crucial to consider essential size parameters such as the outer dimensions (TFT OD) and visible area (TFT AA/KLOC-1) of the screen. These parameters will have a significant impact on the size and shape of the housing, as well as the placement of any supporting components.

2. Size setting for the casing

When designing the housing, it is essential to ensure that the window of the casing is appropriately sized. If the window is too large, the metal frame of the display screen may be exposed, which can be unsightly. Conversely, if the window is too small, the displayed image on the screen may be covered. Therefore, the most important size parameters should be taken into account at the outset of the design process. This includes the OD, OPEN, and AA of the screen.

In addition to these parameters, attention should also be paid to other critical dimensions, such as the length, width, and corner radius of the upper glass, the touch panel, and the thickness of the mounting tape. Furthermore, for display modules with mounting frames, the diameter, and spacing of mounting holes must also be considered.

3. Assembly process for the casing

The correct assembly process for the LCD screen module in the casing is also paramount. Incorrect assembly can lead to a range of issues, such as damage to the FFC, separation of the throttle valve position and transmission oil, damage to the thin film transistor glass, and bending of the LCD display frame.

Therefore, it is crucial to take care when installing the display module into the casing. It is advisable to use a bracket attached to the back of the display screen for additional support, which will make the entire structure more rigid and minimize the effects of external factors such as vibration and temperature changes.
