The LCD Display Panel is the main component of the display, and currently, there are three types: LCD panel, Mini LED, and OLED, among which LCD panel is still the mainstream application. The main working principle of liquid crystal display (LCD) is to drive the IC to change the voltage of the liquid crystal layer, adjust the deflection angle of the liquid crystal molecules to control the passage and blocking of light, and then use color filters to achieve graphic output. Typically, an LCD panel consists of 2 glass substrates, 2 polarizers, 2 alignment films (PI), 2 conductive films (ITO), 1 liquid crystal layer (LC), 1 backlight module, and 1 driver IC.
The imaging of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) must rely on polarizers, and different development stages of display technology have different requirements for polarizers. Taking TN/STN/TFT as an example, TN is the most basic LCD display method, which can only display black and white fields with low image resolution. It is suitable for static image display, with low production costs and low requirements for polarizers. STN is a super twisted type that can display colors with improved resolution, In the small size, the color reproduction is close to TFT, displaying static images and some animations, with moderate production cost, and requiring an optical compensation function for polarizers. TFT is a point pixel-controlled display with the highest resolution and best color reproduction. The display effect is comparable to conventional CRT, but the production cost is the highest and the requirements for polarizers are also the highest.
2. Overview of relevant policies in the LCD Display Panel industry
Since 2010, the Chinese government has also introduced a series of relevant policy measures aimed at vigorously supporting the development of China's LCD panel industry. In the 2012 National Strategic Emerging Industry Development Plan for the 12th Five-Year Plan, LCD production line technology was listed as a key technology development; In 2014, LCD production enterprises imported self-used raw materials and consumables that could not be produced domestically and were exempt from import tariffs.
