What is Cell process?

The Cell in the middle section is a base plate made of Array glass in the previous section, combined with a color filter glass base plate, and filled with a liquid crystal (LC) between the two glass base plates.

I. PI Coating

Provides the alignment and pre-tilt base materials needed for liquid crystal molecules in cells.

2. Rubbing

A groove for the orientation of the liquid crystal is made by rubbing the PI film on the top of the glass substrate with a paired fabric, so that the liquid crystal is arranged neatly between the upper and lower paired membranes in the specified direction.

Like PI processes, Rubbing particularly needs to eliminate ESDs.

Pre-tilt angle (Pre-tilt Angle or TBA: Tilt Bias Angle) refers to the fact that the alignment of liquid crystal molecules on the alignment membrane is not parallel to the surface of the membrane, but that one end of the molecule is warped relative to the surface of the membrane in the direction of friction. If there is no pre-tilt angle, the liquid crystal molecules can stand up randomly in two directions under the external electric field, which will cause poor display.

3. Frame glue

Frame glue composition:

(1) Main ingredients: Sealants

(2) Silicon ball: has a certain height and acts as a shim

4. Liquid crystal dripping

The liquid crystal is filled by drop filling (One-Drop-Fill).

5. Hot Pressure

Press the array glass onto the color-resistant glass.

6. Cutting slices

It is not possible to produce LCD panels one by one. This is too inefficient, so many pieces can be processed at once and separated by cutting.

7. Polarizer patches

Then bonding IC and FPC; Assembling backlight modules, whole machine enclosures, and other operations is simpler than previous high-precision operations.
