Packaging Scheme for LCD Monitors
Aug 03, 2023| When selecting packaging and cushioning materials for LCD monitors, certain performance aspects should be considered. By and large, the accompanying elements should be considered: detachment execution, padding execution, distortion execution under load, recuperation execution subsequent to dumping, material strength, firmness, and how the material's solidarity and solidness change with moistness and temperature. It is essential to focus on different aspects when choosing materials. After conducting research, materials must meet the requirements from both aspects, including cost-effectiveness.
LCD monitor packaging mainly consists of cartons and cushioning pads. Its primary purpose is to protect the monitor from excessive impacts that may cause damage. Among these, cushioning pads play a vital role due to their unique material characteristics and significant role in the overall packaging.
Foam Plastic
The foam plastic is a polymer material composed of microcellular dispersions dispersed in solid plastic, offering properties such as lightweight, thermal insulation, sound absorption, and shock absorption. It has better dielectric properties than base resin and finds extensive applications. Almost all types of plastics can be processed into foam plastic, making foaming molding an essential field in plastic processing.
Contrasted with unadulterated plastics, froth plastics enjoy the benefits of low thickness, lightweight, high unambiguous strength, solid effect retention capacity, great warm and sound protection, low warm conductivity, magnificent electrical protection, and protection from consumption and form. Soft foam plastics also possess excellent elasticity.

Corrugated Cardboard Boxes
As a primary external packaging container for goods, corrugated cardboard boxes not only ensure the safety of goods during transportation but also play a role in enhancing product appearance, increasing added value, and promoting sales. Especially in recent years, various beautifully printed new types of moisture-proof and glossy cardboard boxes have significantly improved the product quality of packaging boxes, fundamentally addressing the issues of moisture, mold, and susceptibility to damage. Currently, the demand for water-resistant cardboard boxes is continuously increasing, especially in the packaging of vegetables, food, household appliances, and industrial products. The usage of water-resistant cardboard boxes for export products has grown rapidly, greatly promoting the development of the corrugated cardboard box manufacturing industry.

Combination of Cushioning Materials
There are two main methods for protecting flat-panel displays: single cushioning material packaging and combination cushioning material packaging.
Single Material Cushioning Packaging usually employs single cushioning materials such as Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Expanded Polyethylene (EPE) as the packaging raw materials. Since flat-panel displays usually have irregular and complex curved surfaces, ensuring a good fit between the EPE cushion and the display is challenging. Poor-fitting can significantly impact the performance of the LCD monitor. Therefore, the structure of the EPE cushion must be designed ingeniously, incorporating features like small surfaces with multiple points, cushioning ribs, and other simplifications to facilitate assembly.

On the other hand, the use of a single cushioning material for packaging flat-panel displays has some drawbacks and inconveniences in production and use. Research has shown that using a combination of multiple packaging materials for cushioning provides a more practical and effective solution. Depending on the shape of the LCD monitor, two combination schemes can be selected:
EPS and honeycomb paperboard combination packaging scheme, which offers excellent cushioning, shock resistance, and compression resistance. This scheme meets the packaging requirements of small and medium-sized displays and has a lower cost compared to using EPE or EPP cushioning pads, making it suitable for mass production.
A combination of cardboard and foam plastic cushioning, which fully utilizes the advantages of cardboard in corner support and resistance to impact, as well as the flexibility, shock resistance, pressure resistance, and high recovery performance of EPE. Based on the above considerations, using a combination of corrugated cardboard and foam plastic cushioning is the most suitable for transporting and protecting LCD monitors.
